Our Day Without a Boat

6:00 am - Captain Kyle and crew showed up to relieve Fred of duty. Fred briefed the hired Captain and at 6:30 am Taurus was off to Canada. |
Then Fred was off to join Deb at the hotel. Once attractions opened, we made our way to Niagara Falls. By the way, our hired Captain’s day job is captaining Maid of the Mist, the tour boats that take you into and behind Niagara Falls. The Horseshoe Falls are incredible; we can see the mist rising from our hotel room. The American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls are also amazing. We passed on Cave of the Winds, given that is where you get drenched. Be sure you turn the sound up for the video. The roar of the Falls is loud and the water is so clear!

| At 12:30 am, our boat showed up at the Marina in Buffalo, NY where Captain Kyle turned the boat back over to us. |
It took 18 hours for Capt. Kyle and crew to get through the Canal. On a good day, it would take 8 hours. They were exhausted, we were exhausted, but the Welland Canal is complete and we are home again.

Thanks for the video and pics. I've been to Niagara Falls once, took the Maid of the Mist tour. It is breath taking. So I guess now you'll spend a couple of days on Lake Erie. How is the weather?
ReplyDeleteFred and I did the Maid of the Mist tour back in 1981 or 1982 when he worked with GE in Schenectady, NY. It is an awesome tour! Yes, we are in Erie, PA on Lake Erie. The weather today was hot and humid. And we had an impressive thunderstorm this afternoon. Prior to today, it was in the 70’s with low humidity. Perfect weather.
DeleteWhy are you wearing jackets in every photo? Isn’t it July in Niagara Falls too? Inquiring minds in South Carolina want to know.
ReplyDeleteActually, yesterday in Niagara Falls was cloudy and 68 degrees. Today, though, was hot and humid. Our weather has mostly been in the 70’s with low humidity. That’s why snowbirds come to this area in the summers. Glad you got the Comments to work!
