Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Waukegan, Illinois - it’s hot here!

We enjoyed our time in Milwaukee. It exceeded our expectations. We were near the Milwaukee River and the things we did were on the River. The city is beautiful with old well-kept buildings.

Several people in the marina came up to ask if we are really from Connecticut (as it says on the boat’s stern).  Since we are 2,000 miles from home, it’s a valid question. Once Fred explained that we are on the Great Loop, each of them wished they could do it themselves.  Everyone we met was friendly and nice.

We left Milwaukee, Wisconsin this morning and arrived in Waukegan, Illinois this afternoon. Waukegan is a northern suburb of Chicago that we could see from Lake Michigan. Our cruise today started with 3 ft. swells and worked into fewer bumps about halfway through. Not the flat water that we prefer.

It was in the 90’s and very humid when we arrived.  We have been used to the 70’s and low humidity in Michigan.  It wasn’t bad in Wisconsin with the temperature in the low 80’s, but the weather here was HOT today.  I hear it’s been in the 90’s in Connecticut, but we are definitely not used to it yet. I guess, heading due south, we better get used to it and more.

We’ve been paying an average of $3.30/gal. of fuel.  When we got here this afternoon, it was $4.05/gal. Yikes!!  And the attendant told us it was a good thing we got it here and not in Chicago where it’s $5.00/gal.  😳
