Mackinac Island, MI

We cruised to Mackinac Island in morning fog. A small vessel was disabled in the middle of the shipping channel. Not the best way to meet the Coast Guard who tows you out.

Here is a nice picture of Mackinac Island shrouded in fog.

There is a lot of activity with the ferries coming and going, other boats coming in for the night, and a lot of movement on Taurus from the wakes in the no-wake zone.  ๐Ÿคจ

Our slip at the Mackinac Island marina is on the end next to the ferry docks.

The main street in Mackinac Island is very busy with people, bicycles, and horse-drawn carts.  Fred and I took a walk to check it all out. There are no cars allowed on the Island since June 6, 1898 because they scared the horses. We even saw a sign that said no electric bicycles are allowed because they are “motor vehicles”.
Fred’s sister Cindy, and her husband, Dave, flew to Michigan from Virginia today to join us for a week. They had a pretty stressful day getting here, so we provided cold beverages to help them relax.  ๐Ÿ˜‚
