We had a great time today. The weather cooperated and has been a beautiful Michigan summer day. We had reservations for a Drive Your Own Carriage. And I know one of the kids will ask, so I’ll tell you now, our horse’s name is Sky.
| We heard this is the only place in the world you can rent a carriage and horse without experience. 🤷♀️ |
| We had a lovely one and a half hour horse-drawn drive along the shore and then through the woods and homes in the inner island. And, again, note the color of the water. Amazing! |
| It turns out there’s more to driving a carriage than one would think. You pull left to go left, and right to go right. |
| But sometimes the guidance system has some interference. (the reins should not be under the tail). We had to figure out on our own how to clear this problem. Turns out when Sky swished his tail again, it repaired the issue. |

| We had a great time! |
| After that, we went and had lunch at the Draft House where we checked off another food we needed to try - poutine. |
Poutine is French fries with cheese curds and gravy. 😋 And I confirmed that I do indeed like hard cider. |

After that, we found out that the fudge shop had another store on the other side of the road where we were. So of course, we had to reload and get three more flavors - Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge, Double Dark Chocolate, and Chocolate Espresso. |
I found out what the Time Lapse choice is on my camera. So of course I had to try it out. Can you see Fred? https://youtube.com/shorts/oe2rFawIUHc?feature=share

Fort Mackinac is on a hill just above the harbor, so Fred, Cindy and Dave went to check it out. |
Fred found another water heater in a bath house at the Fort that was similar to the one he found the other day that he thinks is interesting. |
You can’t see them on the top of the Fort from Taurus, but you can see where they were. |

You can see Taurus in the harbor from the top of the Fort.

Wow! We are tired! It was a busy day.
Deb, great postings from Mackinac Island! Loved the pictures and points of interest about the island. Now that you have discovered hard cider, time try some single malt scotch. 🥃😉
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom! We are looking forward to having this blog and pictures to look back.
Delete😂 and I don’t think hard cider to scotch is the normal progression. But I may try it anyway …
