Presque Isle, Michigan

Note:  This entry was written on August 2, 2022.  However our WiFi and cell service were nonexistent in Presque Isle, so we had to post once we got to our new port of the evening

We had a bouncy ride on our cruise today. Wind out of the northwest created swells in Lake Huron.

When we got to Presque Isle (pronounced “eel” as in French), we set off to see the Old Lighthouse.  Congress authorized funds for this lighthouse to be built in 1838. It was completed two years later.

This is the New Lighthouse built in 1870

Fred found this hot water heater interesting. It’s in the New
Lighthouse Keeper’s cottage that was built in 1905.

Turquoise water!

The water a few feet behind Fred is 2 feet deep. So clear!

Look how clear the water is in this bay off of Lake Huron.
