Rogers City, MI

We had an uneventful cruise this morning. The only issue was that our port engine didn’t want to start again. Fred worked and worked on it and finally did a jump-start on it.

When we arrived at Rogers City, they were asking if we were here for the “Festival“. There was a podium overlooking the road where the festivities will take place. Not bad for a town of 2,872 people.

Fred thinks the podium road looks like the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris.

There’s a carousel, cyclone ride, water slide, among other rides yet to be situated. And there are umpteen picnic tables that were being power-washed ready to be set out.

When we arrived at Rogers City, the harbor has an interesting channel leading into it. It’s built this way so that the swells and storms don’t enter into where the boats are.

There is also an interesting addition to the breakwater.  The locals call it “the pier” and they go out to it and jump off into Lake Huron.

Fred spent a good deal of the afternoon working on the port engine. The last time we tried to start it with the key, it started!  Hopefully it does that for us tomorrow morning.
