Beardstown, IL to Alton, IL — Hanging Out

Peoria to Alton, IL — 2 locks, 2 rivers, 180 miles, tows and grain elevators. We arrived at Alton Marina on Sunday and have been recovering and working on maintenance.  There was an incredible Labor Day party going on with a DJ and then a live band in the evening when we arrived.  We were too tired to join.

Since we will be here for ~ 8 nights while we wait for Deb’s brother to join us, Fred pre-ordered some parts and is addressing a few issues on the boat. He got the new AIS antenna cable pulled through the walls and is replacing some very old looking engine hoses.

We are staying under a covered dock for the first time.  This makes the 94 degree temp bearable. It also means we can’t use our TV satellite dish so we bought an antenna and learned how to cast to the boat tv.

To me, it looks like the boats are in jail 😆

This is the farthest south we have been on the boat. Alton is on the banks of the mighty Mississippi. The water looks muddy, especially since our time in Michigan. And, just an FYI, Illinois implemented an indoor mask policy on September 30th but we have not seen many masks south of Chicago.

  1. I’m glad Taurus keeps you socially distanced while too many people mistake a global health crisis for which simple and safe preventive measures protect all of us for a government intervention into their inalienable rights as patriotic Amuricans.

    1. We’re glad to be socially distanced and we wear our masks indoors as mandated by the Illinois governor. I think we will keep that behavior as we cruise farther south. 😷
