Today was a day of rest and chores after our grueling schedule yesterday. However, I found out tonight that we are leaving at 5:30ish again tomorrow morning. As I’ve stated in prior posts, yes, this is an adventure. But adventure doesn’t mean it’s all good 😑 and it’s going to be 37 degrees at 6:00 am.

| I took a walk over to the ship’s store this afternoon which turned out to be about .75 of a mile each way. Along the way, I saw these Canadian geese. Now I know where those birds are spending the winter. Although since it’s supposed to be 37 degrees tonight. They may have to go all the way to central Florida. |

Here’s something you won’t see in Connecticut. The pool at this marina is still open! (It's November 18) |
 |
| This is the Tombigbee Lower Black Warrior River that will take us to Mobile, Alabama. |

| Here’s Taurus in her Alabama slip |
We have learned to ask for slips not under cover. Our satellite tv doesn’t work if there’s a cover over the boat. Only a first world problem. But one that we are not used to. There are no covered slips in New England.

| Tonight we again had dinner with Mary Ann and John, our Looper friends from Highlander. Tonight it was Mexican and they make BIG drinks! |
So I have another story with the caption “you can’t make this stuff up”. Here is a picture of the docks from close to the marina store. Like I said, it was quite a walk each direction.

I was walking back to the boat and had gone about a quarter of the way, when one of the marina maintenance golf carts being driven by one of the marina guys asked did I want a ride back. I said “yes, please!” So we started out with small talk - what’s up with this cold weather? (54 degrees). Then I asked what he does around the marina. I had seen guys replacing an anchor windlass or whatever. He sheepishly said, “I’m the guy that built this marina. I’m Fred.” I immediately sat up and thought “blog material!” I told him that this marina is beautiful and I understand it opened in 2011. He said yes, it took a couple of years, and the ship’s store building opened in June (2021). Yesterday, the guy who helped us at the fuel dock said the fuel pumps were new in July. Fred (the marina builder) also told me that he was dredging a new area to the east of this marina to open up another marina. He drove me by where they were working on that. You know, if you ask people questions, sometimes you get really interesting answers.
I’m not sure how I feel about my sister getting “picked up” by the Marina guy 🤣
