Today we cruised 5.5 hours to Myrtle Beach. It was much different landscape.
While we were at the Rice Museum yesterday, the docent told us that there were abandoned rice fields on the ICW. So we were watching for them. And we found them! The first sign was the 6 ft. high by 15 ft. wide earth dikes. Then we saw the trunk docks (which were used to control the amount of water going into the rice fields).

There was an 11 ft. high railroad swing bridge that we had to pass. The Captain called for an opening and the bridge tender complied. You know, I do have to say that it makes you feel pretty special when traffic is stopped so you can slowly drive your boat down the river and through the bridge. A railroad swing bridge opens for Taurus
